Easter Weekend

We had a very busy Easter weekend. Ben's great-uncle, Mitch, passed away the previous week and he went down to Baton Rogue Friday to spend time with their family and for the funeral. Michael and I headed to my parent's house Saturday afternoon. Ben made it to Carthage late Saturday evening and was able to be there to see what the Easter Bunny brought Sunday morning!

Growing up, the Easter Bunny brought us candy instead of actual toys and stuff. Hopefully, when Michael gets a little older, the Bunny will take up this tradition!

It was so fun having everyone together Easter morning

We had lunch at my parent's house after church

Michael's cousin, Ali Clare, is 8 weeks older than him. William is 6.

Michael is a little chunkier than her, but she's a tad longer than him

Sweet, sweet babies!

5 Months

This has been a busy month! Michael is growing and changing so much everyday. He's so much fun right now.

At 5 months:
He's still taking 6oz every 3-3.5 hours
Sits in his high chair while we eat dinner
Loves to pet the dogs. Bella will come and nudge his hand to get him to pet her.
As long as she's holding her bone, she doesn't lick!
Loves his exersaucer. He hasn't figured out how to spin around in it yet, but it
keeps him occupied.
Still has a flat spot on the side of his head. Our pediatrician said this was no big
deal, and just to keep him off his back except for sleeping. Hopefully, it'll
round out soon!
Hasn't had any more baby food. After our stomach problems after the beans
and carrots, we thought we should wait a while before trying again. I hope to
offer it again at 6 months.
Loves to have books read to him and sing songs. He particularly likes the "Baaa"
the sheep makes in Old Macdonald!

Michael was baptized on March 10th at Maples Memorial Church in Olive Branch.
We felt so fortunate and blessed to have some many friends and family come up
to celebrate this special time with us. Michael wore the gown Ben wore as an
infant. It fit him perfectly! We dressed him in the slip only when we left the house.
It was a good thing! He spit up and peed on it before we even made it out of the
house. He did really good during the service. He slept through a lot of it, and
hardly woke up when he was sprinkled with water. He had a frown and furrowed
brow on his face while being walked around the church, but at least he wasn't
crying!

We had everyone over for lunch afterwards. It was so nice to have so many special
people in our house!

A few pics from my phone:

Loving his Nonna

Meeting his cousin, Liam, for the first time! These two are just 2 weeks apart.

Leah took some really great pictures while she was here. I can't figure out to get them from the disc to the iPad though. These will have to do for now!

Playing in his new favorite toy:

Mailing his first card

We had our first trip to the zoo two wks ago. We went my friend Haley and her little boy Hudson. Michael slept through the majority of the trip. I'm not certain he even noticed a single animal! None the less, the weather was great and he behaved like an angel baby

We also had a little Easter Photo Shoot. He was a little apprehensive about being unclothed! This was the first time since his birth it's been this warm!

Playing with the pups. The dogs are pretty good with him--so far anyway

Easter party at church

And our 5 month photo shoot:

And drinking out of a cup for the first time. Ice water

We're looking forward to our first Easter. I hope to take him to the Passion Play Saturday depending on the weather and then his first Easter basket! He's made it through 4 church services so far--here's hoping for at least one more!

4 Month Update

Michael's 4.5 months and such a joy these days! Being back at work has been a bit of a challenge, but having my mom here has been a huge help! We went to the doctor last week and this little chunk is really growing. He still spits up a ton and I asked the doctor what we could do about. After reviewing his chart and realizing he'd gained nearly 6lbs in 2 months, she wasn't at all concerned! He weighed 15.7lbs, is 25in long and 42cm head circumference.

He's still eating 6oz every 3-3.5 hours and we started trying some veggies this week. We tried green beans first. Maybe not the best first choice. I've decided to try and make his food myself. I steamed the heck out of those things, then put them in our food processor. Then I strained them out and added some rice cereal to the liquid. He liked the taste ok. We gave them to him for 3 days and then he had the worst upset tummy! He was so gassy and upset.

We then took a break from the solids. I tried carrots tonight. He wasn't crazy about them, but hopefully his tummy will adjust a bit better.

We also had a nice romantic Valentine's Day--at Casa Mexicana! We had planned on going out in Memphis, but Ben's work scheduled allowed him to get off earlier than anticipated so we relieved our child care provider instead!

Snuggling after work one evening

Playing with his Daddy

Daddy was in charge of bath time this night!

4 Month Photo Shoot:

Bella was checking things out. Speaking of Bella, she had her 7th birthday on February 23rd! My sister used to buy her dogs a cheeseburger on their birthday, Bella got a bone.

My niece, Ali Clare, was baptized on Feb. 10th. We went down on Saturday evening and stayed with my sister. I didn't get many photos, but it was really nice to all be together as family. We also had a wonderful brunch at Nick's afterwards

Playing before church

And lastly, we just set up Michael's high chair. He has Ben's old one also, but isn't quite big enough for that.

How is he big enough for that already!??
