Our sweet boy is one month old! I always hate reading about other babies milestones/"what they're doing..."--but I'm going to be that annoying person and document it anyway. Feel free to skip over all the writing and just look at the adorable pictures at the bottom!
At 1 month:
Michael is nursing every 3 hours while awake and about every 4 hours at night. He doesn't nap very well during the day but is slowly catching on to the night routine.
He hasn't started smiling yet, but is cooing a little.
He loves his bouncy seat, but doesn't like his swing very much. He loves to be rocked. He will take a paci, but isn't addicted to it--yet.
He's still wearing Newborn sized diapers, but we started using the gDiapers this week. They fit him pretty good. We're using the biodegradeable kind, not cloth. So far, we've been pleased. I'd heard they're very difficult with little boys. We haven't had any leaks out of them yet. I don't consider myself to be a very "green" person; however, the thought of throwing thousands of diapers into a landfill really bothers me. I don't think we'll use them all the time, but we'll see. Here's a link to the website: http://www.gdiapers.com/
He still hates his bath. Hopefully this will change soon.
He really likes it when we sing. Good thing he doesn't realize what terrible singers we are!

Catch Up
I knew blogging would be a bit time consuming; however, I didn't realize how time consuming a newborn was! Rookie mom here. I didn't expect to be this far behind, but I plan to do better.
Leah and her mom came up to visit that first week. Leah has started a photography business. She's done lots of children shoots, some seniors and a wedding! I can't even begin to express how excited I am to have a best friend that's into this type of thing. I hope to learn lots from her. Here's a few of the pics she took of him.
I intended to take his picture every week for the first month--yeah, that didn't happen. Here's his 1 week pic.

She took lots more but we plan to send out some announcements, and I don't want to ruin the surprise. Anyway, she's wonderful. She was so patient and calm with him. Be sure to check out her blog/website: Leah Hendrix Photography, or look her up on Facebook.

That's one of the few outfits that actually fits him! I'm surprised how different all of the sizing is on Newborn clothes. Some of it fits him perfectly and then there's some I'm sure he'll be wearing at 3 months old.
This is his first sponge bath. He HATED it. I'm not really surprised, but my word...
And on that note, he doesn't like his real baths much better. He does ok at first and likes the warm water, but loses interest very quickly.
This is his first Halloween. I sweet friend at work gave him the cutest skeleton outfit, but it was huge. So we settled for a "My First Halloween" onesie.
Mike (Ben's dad) came to visit. He didn't hold him much in the hospital so we were happy to get a few pictures of the two. Michael was named after him. He still hasn't decided what he wants to be called--he's been joking around that he'll be "Mr. Cayson".
Coming Home--(trying to catch up)
We got home from the hospital around 5:00 pm on Friday. He feel right asleep once we got in the car-thankfully! Rush hour traffic in Memphis is no fun, and I can't imagine the stress with a screaming baby added in.
Kind of smiling. His poor outfit was huge! Bless him
Welcoming crew:
Sweet Ali Clare--breaking in all of baby Michael's toys!

Hospital Stay
We stayed in the hospital 3 nights after his birth. We truly had a great experience at Methodist Germantown. The nurses and physicians were great. We had lots of wonderful visitors and got lots of rest! I was determined not to send him to the nursery at night, but they brought him right to me to nurse, and it allowed us to get some good rest before heading home.

This was on our way to the hospital. Forgot to include it earlier.
